Preparing your Gig Harbor or Key Peninsula home for Interior painting is easy if you know all the steps ahead of time of what you must do before the painters arrive. Proper planning makes it easier for both the homeowner and the Painting Contractor to make the project go smoothly. Here is a step-by-step instruction list of what you should do:
The homeowner is typically responsible for moving furniture. Otherwise, the Painting Contractor can usually do it for you, typically at an hourly rate. Therefore, you can save yourself some money if you tackle the job yourself.
Remove/replace all window treatments such as blind, curtains, valances, etc. The hardware can remain if you are going to use the same hardware after painting is done. Again, the Painting Contractor may offer to do it for you at an hourly rate.
Remove everything from the walls. Only remove nails if items are not going back in the same place. Do not remove any anchors/mollies. That can cause unnecessary damage and repairs to the walls.
All Glass tables and glass shelving needs to be moved.
Remove/replace all items from furniture being moved. Includes glass, china, all breakables, books, magazines, etc.
Advise the Painting Contractor of wobbly tables, or other furniture, which is not too sturdy.
Remove all antiques, or one -of a kind item, which cannot be replaced.
All artwork, which cannot be replaced.
All entertainment centers disconnect and reconnect all stereo equipment, TV’s, computers, etc. Again, the Painting Contractor can often do this at an hourly rate if you prefer.
Remove/replace all contents from any closets being painted.
Remove/replace all knick-knacks from tables, baths, and kitchens.
Typically, a Painting Contractor will not be working in all the rooms at the same time. Therefore, you can tackle a room the day prior to a Painting Contractor coming into that area of the house. Often, a Painting Contractor will collaborate with you to do certain rooms in a certain order, to allow you to still live comfortably in your home while it is being worked on.
We are painting in the Pierce and Kitsap counties. h
